Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty created Hangul to replace Chinese characters.
The project was completed in late December 1443 or January 1444, and described in 1446 in a document titled Hummin Jeongeum ("The Proper Sounds for the Education of the People"), after which the alphabet itself was named. The Hangul has 24 characters. |
I am Mrs. Chang-hee Russell. I am very excited to be with Algebra I and CP Algebra I & II students in Jennings High School. My post secondary education was at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree. I was a graphic designer for six years working on books, brochures, and posters. When my son was in grade school, I noticed several of his classmates needing help in math. That motivated me to become a math teacher. I taught for three years in Arkansas, and eleven years in Jefferson City, Missouri. While teaching at Jefferson City, I received a Masters of Education from the William Woods University. I am a certified STEM teacher. I am married and have two children. I love reading books, traveling, hiking, and cooking Korean food.
Why study math? Math can be fun, look around you and you will see how math is everywhere, the twist in the growth pattern of a blade of grass can be described mathematically, the brick pattern on the side of a building, the ratio of a sale price at the shoe store, even music is based in mathematics. Any student can be successful in math. Learning math can be fun. I hope you enjoy learning math as much as I enjoy teaching it. |
